Emerald

Emerald is a variety of the mineral beryl. It ranges in color from medium light to medium dark green to bluish green. The ancient Egyptians believed it stood for fertility and rebirth. It was also used to cure eye diseases. In the 18th century European gem engravers would look at emeralds when their eyes were tired. Emeralds have many legends including putting it under your tongue would let you see the future, or wearing one would strengthen your memory, help guard against evil spirits, and reveal the truth of your lover’s love.
